2018 Speedmaster-BG China SBK Team
Zhuhai – Pan Delta Racing Festival 16-18/3/2018
In 2017, Japanese Top 2/4 wheels Lubricant company “Speedmaster”(SM) has appointed BG as their Hong Kong/Macau sole distributor for their Auto/Motorcycle engine Lubricant and other products.
In 2018, it is decided that Speedmaster and BG will jointly set up our SM-BG Pro Superbike team to race at China’s highest level of racing : the China Zhuhai Pan Delta Racing Festival.
The Pan Delta racing Festival has for many years heralded as Greater China’s highest level of 2/4 wheel racing events as the 3 days weekend consist of all the most competitive Racing events such as : Pan Delta SBK, Touring Car, TCR, Super Cars, Formula Renault, adding to all these excitements are the Drift Car competition, BG’s SBK Stunt show, dancing and singing and a most popular Carnival at the Grand square behind the Grandstand where spectators can drink, eat and enjoy themselves with Gokart and Simulation driving, all these made Zhuhai’s Pan Delta the most attended Motorsport in all of China.
The SM-BG Pro SBK team’s line has our regular Japanese Pro rider “Shinjo Masahiro” on the Japanese Kawasaki Pro SBK outfit “Team JP”purposely built Kawasaki ZX10RR, equipped with all the Pro racing components as represented by BG.
The 600 Super sport unit was piloted by one of the most popular Hong Kong Chinese Rider “Chow ho wan” again with another Kawasaki ZX6R built by Team JP’s engineer.
At last week’s Wed, the Japanese entourage of 11 people arrived to Zhuhai which consisted of Rider Shinjo, Team JP boss “Kimura”san, chief engineer for the ZX10RR and another engineer for the ZX6R, then there is the team designer for the bike and team outfit, the Italian suspension “Bitubo’s engineer “Toda san” from Japan, all meet up with the BG team members, and everyone started to work on the bikes and setting up of the team presentation for the weekend.
On Friday Qualifying, due to both bikes has only just recently built and need a lot more setup but Shinjo already qualified top 3 overall, but HK rider Chow, after absence from racing for 3 years, need more time to set up his bike and himself, but the result was satisfying for everyone.
On Sat, the 1st Race was at noon time, the atmosphere of the SBK race was great, the 600 SS class has over 30 bike entering, so the line up was most impressive, the race started with Team Yamaha rider “ZP Li” immed pulling away as Li has been racing in Zhuhai for the last few years and has won most of the super sport events, then followed by another Kawasaki rider in front of BG’s Chow, the 2nd and 3 rd has one of the most exciting dual all through the race and at the end, Chow come up take the Super sport Pro class in 2nd place and has made great improvement as he get to feel better with the bike and himself.
After the 600 race comes the 1000cc SBK Race, getting to be a Zhuhai regular now Is the Ducati Factory Test Rider
“Alessandro Vitaly” that has make great pace at last year’s Zhuhai race and has great knowledge over his Panigale 1299 special edition race bike, so at the start of the race, after a couple of laps followed by Yamaha Pro rider Huang, Vitaly started to pull away, but to everyone at SM-BG team, Shinjo suddenly slowed down at the 2nd lap and he limped home to the Pit lane, it was discovered that the ECU mapping was corrupted and he has lose Power after 1 lap into the race, Shinjo’s engineer immed worked on the ECU re-mapping and has the bike going again in a short time, but this has loss Shinjo 3 laps into the race so he can only completed the race with no points.
Sunday.
After the hard working Sat and quite disappointing SBK race, everyone was eager for the 2nd race of the weekend, after the Sat race time qualifying, some riders were taken off the Sunday race, so the 1000cc and 600cc get to race all together, and this has made a starting Grid of 40 bikes.
With the newly re-mapped ZX10R, Shinjo did a great start and was immed 3rd into the 1st lap, same as the Sat Race, Ducati;s vitaly was gone on his own in no time, followed by Huang from Yamaha doing a lonely race, Shinjo again has a few lap dice with the Kawasaki team rider, but this time with a good working bike, Shinjo takes no time in shaking off the competition and finished the race in 2nd place which greatly pleases everyone and himself.
In the 600 line up, Chow was riding better and better and again managed to shake of all the competitors but can only come home in 2nd place of the 600 SS class but he has again prove himself to be a most formidable riders that we believe will be fighting for the class win in the next race.
The 2018 China Zhuhai Pan Delta race ring the bell for the 1st race of the 2018 China racing season, and Team SM-BG and everyone at the team was extremely pleased with the great result and we’d like to thank everyone who gave us all the support and help.
