2007 1st Round of the China Pan Delta Racing Festival

When Zhuhai Circuit announced the 2007 Racing calendar in late Dec, everyone was surprised that the 1st Round of the very successful (2006) Pan Delta Super Racing Festival is to be held from 19-21/Jan/07.

This has interrupted the planning of many Teams and riders as there has never been a Race event held as early as Jan and the 2006 last race was only just held a few weeks ago in Dec/06 so many Teams and riders has their machines dismantled for re-built or waiting for sponsorship for their 07 season. This 1st Race 1st round  007 Race has seen many teams and riders not able to participate.

For 2007, BG’s plan was to participate only in the newly formed CHINA Superbike Championship organized by the China official CMSA (China Motorcycle sports federation). The CSBK is a officially

Sanctioned National event with 4 rounds being run in Zhuhai, Shanghai and Beijing. This National Championship will also have much extensive TV and media coverage that will give BG’s sponsors a much bigger exposure in the Greater China market.

So with the request of many BG Fans and supporters, it was decided that BG will only enter our No : 1 rider, Huang Shi Zhao into the 2007 Zhuhai Pan Delta SBK event.

On Friday Qualifying, with our Kawasaki ZX10R still waiting for a new gear box, Huang can only managed to QF 2nd as there was problems with the 2nd and 3rdgears.

On Sat 1st Race, the weather was extremely cold and in the morning before the 1strace, there were on and off drizzles so all the Team and riders was devastated as everyone was wondering what tyres to use..

The drizzled stopped just when all the bikes were out for the grid line up and BG decided to change

Huang’s tyre to a soft slick rear at the starting Grid. But after the warm up lap, Huang was told to go into the pit lane and to start last at the Pit exit due to the team change tyres at the Starting Grid.

(it was later checked that tyre change are allowed at the Starting Grid by all FIM sanctioned events)

During the race, Huang put up a Herculean effort by dashing between all the slower riders at the back and soon was right at the back of the 3 front runners, Huang then proceed to overtake the 3rd and the 2nd rider by Lap eight, but by then the front bike was too far in front to catch up so BG’s Kawasaki Came home in 2nd place.

The Sunday weather was even worse then Sat, with Temp dropped to a 14* low and windy, track surface was very slippery and again, just when the bikes were out to the start Grid, another light drizzle started to come down, BG’ Huang suffered a slid off at the 1st corner of the warm up lap due to the super slippery track so the Race Control decided to Postpone the race in order that teams can change their tyres.

Due to it was the end of the season and BG has used up all the rain and intermediate tyres planned for 06, so Huang has to end up using a soft compound Rain tyres that the Team has got left.

The race started with Huang in the front for the 1st 3 laps, but by then the rain has stopped long ago and the track was totally dried up,  the soft rain tyres was being chew up in no time so Huang’s bike was sliding and skidding all over the track.

Huang decided it was too risky to dice  with the Wanch Bike of Nick Winthrope and prefer to come home safe in another 2nd place..

The big surprise of the weekend was BGs new Rider Ronny, on a newly re-built BG Kawasaki ZX6R

Ronny took 2nd place in the 600 Super Sport class on Sat Race 1 but won the 2nd600SS race on Sunday. We’re sure that for the rest of the 2007 season, everyone will see Ronny on the Zhuhai Podium a lot more.
