The World FIM-FMX Championship was the World’s highest level of 2 wheels extreme sport and China is the only venue held in Asia.
The event was sanctioned by the China Motorcycle Federation and supported by the Shenzhen Govt, and organized and promoted by long time BG partner “Dong Dong Sports Promotions” as BG was presented at all the last 4 years events to be the liason partner between the China promoter and the FIM/FMX officials and riders.
Despite China Shenzhen is the 1st city that totally Banned Motorcycles in the city, but this does not stopped over 12000 spectators all rushed into the Shenzhen Stadium to watch this mouth dropping and heart pumping event. And the Public Ad in the city was ironically quoted as : “ In Shenzhen, Our Motorcycles flies in the SKY !!!”
The Championship is in 2 rounds on Saturday and Sunday, and all through each evening, all the World Fro FMX riders puts up impossible acts after acts and the crowds responded with crazy cheers and applauses making this one of the most spectator participated events of all Motorsports seen in China.
The Opening Ceremony was a great affairs with a big time variety show, and then the FMX competition started at around 8 pm.The Competition is divided in 4 different parts with a winner for each part :
- Qualifying for Free style jump Final
- Life Proof Best Whip (180* Rotation in Mid air)
- Highest Air (Riders jump to up to 12 m with limited start up ground)
- Free Style Jump Final.
The competition was fierce due to all Riders are all the World’s FMX Top Pros and each was trying to out do each other at every turn. Just to show how extreme these FMX competition are, French FMX veteran Pro David Rinaldo
Was working on a hardest level of jump and crashed land at the down slope and has to be taken to the hospital for treatment of cracked ribs, we all wish him a speedy recovery.
Due to the competition was extremely close, so the whole event take much longer then expected and the whole event lasted till 11.30 late into the night and when the show is over, big crowds of officials and spectators all crowded around all riders to take photo and the stadium finally get to close at after mid night.
The Sunday event was a repeat of the same Sat round except there is NO more crashes, the whole event was a great success as the Shenzhen Gov’t officials were all impressed with the outcome and the reception from the spectators.
Another high light of the 2 evenings is the participation of a 1st China’s Young FMX Rider “Wang Ke” who just turned 14 and is already a multi year winner of China’s National MX Championships.
Despite being a FMX beginner, but the crowd welcomes Wang Ke with thundering applauses and catcalls and we all wish Wang the best in his future FMX career and BG has already promised a technical sponsorship to Wang ke on his helmets and high performance parts for his racing MX bike.
The FIM/FMX show will go on in 2017 and we’re all looking to see nother lucky city that can hose this event.
