The 17th China International Motorcycle Expo (CIMA) at the China Chongqing National Exhibition Centre, completed the 4 days event from 20/9/2019 - 23/9/2019.
The earlier years’ CIMA has always been the showcase of China Motorcycle manufacturers’ to the general public of their latest Made in China small capacity motorcycles.
But with the opening of big capacity Motorcycles into China since the mid nineties, many of the world’s top Motorcycle brands has enjoyed a tremendous growth into the China market despite China has the world’s most Stringent homologation systems that many of the world known bikes has problems passing the China standard, this is specially true with sporting big capacity motorcycles, but the other sectors such as Cruising bikes in Harley, Indian are selling great and Enduro bike such as the BMW GS are the biggest selling singl bike model in China, the import big capacity motorcycle market has grown many folds since the late nineties as more and more people has accepted having a big import motorcycle is a symbol of Cool and freedom.
With the fast growing Motorcycle markets comes the supporting industries such as riding gears, helmets, high performance add on, modifications, Better Lubricants, tyres and many more, so we can also see the fastest growth of the supporting markets.
The 2019 CIMA opening 2 days was wet, so this has dampened the spirit of many riders who wanted to ride to the EXPO many are from far away regions and despite the weather, tens of thousands Bikes still came from allover the country, many as far as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
In the 4 days of the EXPO, over 170,000 Riders (Original estimate was to be around 300,000) from 30 regions and cities allover China, some as far as 2500 km away, and 500 Bikers’ clubs, Groups, over 30 motorcycle brands and hundreds of accessories suppliers attend the event, most impressive was a rider took 3 months riding from Canada all the way to the event !
BG/STAR BIKE, always the most welcome name in ALL Greater China’s Motorcycle events and Exhibitions was again invited by the event organizer to display our many world famous brands in the exhibition as our products are most probably the ONLY high performance Technical brands in the country so our presence does draw huge attention to the Biker pubic
The 1st day was Press and industry rep day, and we have many of the China National Dealers specially came to see us from many regions of the Country and then the next 2 days see huge Bike crowds coming into the EXPO and the BG/Star Bike stand was constantly packed with many bikers and bike shops from allover getting the latest high performance info from all of our staffs.
The products that attracts the most attention has to be BREMBO as we have display a close to Full Brembo High performance, OE and racing products and most of the bikers don’t even know Brembo has such as hige number of products, then the Carbon shocks every one when they lifted the wheels and right away everyone want to lift the wheels so by the end of the event, we actually sold quite a few sets of Carbon wheels, then our Diagnostic computer “TEXA” our brake hose manufacturing Kit “HEL” also got good orders, and other products such as Exhaust, suspensions, Tuning ECU, Sprockets, Marchesini, Kineo wheels also get great reviews from all the bikers and Bike press that attended our Booth .
The CIMA show is by far the biggest Motorcycle Expo in China, but the CIMA is good for the inside industry people to find new products as the biker general are not the main feature here.
The fast growing Beijing Bike show was v. impressive in 2018, and the same CIMA organizer for Beijing has already invited BG/Star Bike to attend their 2019 Beijing Bike /show in May/June 2019, and we believe that Beijing, having he biggest number of motorcycle ownerships in the Country, Beijing alone will have more then enough bike public to make the 2020 Beijing Bike show a great success.
